St Martin’s Kindergarten has served the local community for over 60 years and continues to provide excellence in education in a caring Christian environment. St Martin’s Kindergarten has been established for the Christian nurture and education of pre-school children irrespective of religious background and what school your child will be attending. We are a welcoming, vibrant and inclusive learning community that has dedicated and skilled educators.
Children are involved in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor play-based activities. It is through children playing and exploring that they learn about the world they live in.
The activities and experiences offered are planned around the children’s interests using the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF). Find out more about our goals and focus in our philosophy statement (link to About us).
Our Statement of Philosophy
Our Place
We are a Kindergarten of the Lutheran Church, and we acknowledge the Boandik people as the traditional owners of the land on which we live and learn. St Martin’s Lutheran Church began our Kindergarten in 1963 and we value being a part of the Mount Gambier community. We are a member of Lutheran Education Australia, and are affiliated with the Government of South Australia Department for Education.
Our Beliefs
We believe all children are special and unique, created and loved by God. We believe that all children are capable learners and that they learn best through play. Our learning environment is a welcoming space that responds to the interests and needs of our children. Children’s learning and development takes place through their relationships with family, community, culture and place. Learning outcomes are most likely to be achieved when educators and families work together in partnership. We value spending time engaging in free play in the natural environment and encourage care and respect towards our world.
Our Faith
The foundation of our Kindergarten is the gospel of Jesus Christ, which shapes our learning and teaching, our relationships and activities. Our kindy is a place of hope, love and forgiveness which values learning as God’s gift to us.
Our Goals
We strive to act in kindness love and grace in all of our interactions. We support our children to develop their sense of belonging and connection within our Kindy. We encourage all members of our Kindy community, including the children, to grow in friendliness, bravery, hopefulness, curiosity and gratitude.
